The Case Continues
Summer 2016: Pressure, Silence, and Delays
May… June… July… time passed, and the case continued. We attended court appearance after court appearance, hoping for progress, but the months dragged on with little to no resolution.
The courts pushed hard for us to admit to abuse or to stipulate to neglect. They wanted us to take accountability, even though the medical records, timelines, and facts contradicted the allegations. They knew what they knew—but still, they wanted us to fold.
Ongoing Visits and Unanswered Questions
Visit after visit, we showed up with love and hope—only to leave without our child.
And each time we asked the same question:
“How did she heal so fast?”
Every time, we were shut down. We were told to stop asking, to focus on the visit, to be quiet or risk losing more time.
No one wanted to talk about the contradictions in the medical records, or how the injuries that once kept her wrapped in splints and casts were now completely healed.

Preparing for Another Child
As all of this was unfolding, we were also preparing to welcome a new baby boy, expected in October 2016.
We were navigating court proceedings, restricted visits, and emotional strain, all while trying to prepare for the birth of another child.
It was a time of deep uncertainty, hopeful for justice, fearful of the system, and desperately trying to hold our family together.
