The Search Warrant and Detective Questions

One day, the father called the mother at work to report that detectives had arrived at their home with a search warrant. However, neither of them had seen this warrant. The detectives were there to investigate the source of the alleged burn injury. They asked a series of questions, wondering if the burn could have been caused by boiling water from the stove, or if it happened in the bathtub due to hot water. They even asked if it could have been a burn from a cigarette.

The Lack of Answers

Despite the detectives' efforts to gather information, they left with the same information they had arrived with—nothing new. The reason they were unable to find answers is simple: it was never a burn to begin with.

The injury had been misdiagnosed as a burn, but it was actually a bug bite that had been misinterpreted. This misdiagnosis led to all the confusion, investigations, and questions that followed, but the truth remained clear: the injury was not a burn, and no one was able to properly recognize this for quite some time.
